Oregon Coast and Coast Range
There’s nowhere quite like the Oregon Coast. It is 338 miles from Astoria to Brookings on US Highway 101, and yet you could spend an entire lifetime along the coast and never see everything there is to see. This is a world of rugged coves, hidden waterfalls, secret beaches, and misty coastal forest. Further inland you’ll find rocky peaks, spectacular wildflower meadows, and viewpoints that stretch from the Pacific Ocean to the high peaks of the Oregon Cascades. Many guidebooks have been written on the Oregon Coast, and I could have devoted at least half this book to hikes along the coast and in the Oregon Coast Range. Presented here are my 20 favorite hikes from this area, from the Columbia River to the California border. In addition to the 20 hikes here, read through each entry closely for notes on other hikes in the area, suggestions on where to camp, and so much more!
